    Abstract
Tongue carcinoma presents as small, reddish ulcerations. One treatment option is surgery, which results in wounds. Sandfish and red dragon fruit peel contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, triterpenoids, alkaloids, and tannins that aid in wound healing. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a 35% concentration combination of sandfish extract and red dragon fruit peel in accelerating wound healing after stage 1 tongue cancer surgery in vivo. This research is a laboratory experimental study with a post-test only control group design in vivo. The sample consisted of 27 male white Wistar rats, divided into three groups: the treatment group (35% concentration), the positive control group (oxoferin), and the negative control group (no treatment). All samples were injected with 2% DMBA on the lateral tongue. After 4 weeks, when the lesions appeared, excision was performed, and the treatment group received drops twice a day. Wound healing was observed pre-clinically and histopathologically on days 3, 7, and 14. Data analysis used one-way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis, and Post-Hoc (LSD) tests (p>0.05). Results showed that the treatment group was statistically as effective as the positive control group in wound closure based on the reduction in length, width, and depth of the wound, with an average healing time of 9.5 days for the treatment group. Histopathological observations indicated that neocapillarization and fibroblasts were more prevalent in the treatment and positive control groups. The number of neutrophils was highest in the negative control group. This study concludes that the combination drop medication of sandfish and red dragon fruit peel extract at a 35% concentration is effective in accelerating wound healing after excision of stage 1 tongue cancer.
