Efek Antibakteri Ekstrak Etanol Daun Pandan Wangi (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) sebagai Alternatif Bahan Irigasi Saluran Akar terhadap Porphyromonas gingivalis (In Vitro)
Antibacterial Effect of Ethanol Extract of Pandan Wangi Leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) as an Alternative Root Canal Irrigation Material Against Porphyromonas gingivalis (In Vitro)
Abstract
Porphyromonas gingivalis is a Gram-negative anaerobic bacteria that can be found in infected root canals. Until now, there has been no material that can be ideal as an irrigation material to eliminate bacteria. One of the natural ingredients that is often used and has antibacterial properties is pandan leaves. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of pandan leaves extract as an alternative root canal irrigation material by determining the MIC and MBC values and comparing them with NaOCl. This type of research is an experimental study with Posttest Only Control Group Design. The thick extract was obtained from 1 kg of pandan leaves extracted with 96% ethanol solvent. Then the thick extract was diluted with DMSO and divided into concentrations of 100%, 50%, 25% 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.125%, 1.56% later the experimental material will be tested and replicated 3 times. Determination of MIC and MBC was carried out by the dilution method combined with the Drop Plates Miles Misra method. The test results were carried out using Kruskal-Wallis and Pos hoc Mann-Whitney which obtained significant results p = 0.001 which means p <0.05, it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of pandan wangi leaves has an antibacterial effect on Porphyromonas gingivalis with a MIC value at a concentration of 6.25% and a MBC value at a concentration of 12.5% and when compared with the positive control NaOCl, it was found that the extract concentration of 12.5% had a similar ability to NaOCl 2.5% in killing Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria.
