dc.description.abstract | Tooth extraction is a medical procedure that causes wounds in the tissue surrounding the tooth socket. The wound healing process involves four stages: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. Macrophages play a crucial role in the inflammatory stage, with functions of phagocytosis and cytokine synthesis. This study aims to evaluate the effect of a combination of Binahong (Anredera cordifolia) and Snakehead fish (Channa striata) extracts on wound healing after tooth extraction. Binahong contains flavonoids, saponins, and tannins that potentially reduce inflammation and function as antioxidants. Snakehead fish contains high protein, albumin, amino acids, and zinc minerals that can aid in the healing process. Studies show that the combination of these two extracts has significant synergistic activity in accelerating wound healing. Its mechanism involves complex interactions between bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, proteins, albumin, and zinc. Both extracts have been proven to reduce macrophage numbers, reduce inflammatory processes, and accelerate the proliferation stage of wound healing. Research findings reveal that the group given a combination of Binahong and Snakehead fish extracts showed an increase in macrophages from day 1 to day 3, followed by a more significant reduction in macrophage numbers starting from day 3 compared to the negative control group and groups with single extracts. Observations were conducted on days 1, 3, and 7 post-extraction, using Hematoxylin-Eosin staining and microscopic examination. | en_US |
