Designing of Culinary Centre in Medan City with Metaphorical Architectural Approach

Abstract

The Culinary Center is an innovative culinary center in the context of architectural development and the needs of a modern city. The main focus of this design is to design how the Culinary Center facilities and metaphor architecture approach. The method used is qualitative through comparative studies with several similar Culinary Center function buildings and several metaphorical themed buildings, to create a Culinary Center that not only functions as a culinary place. This Culinary Centre is also a place for the introduction of culinary tourism that stimulates the values of cultural dialogue and local identity. Through the combination of visual beauty and symbolic meaning of metaphorical architecture, it is hoped that the Culinary Center will not only be an attraction, but also provide inspiration for future architectural projects oriented to the concept of metaphor. The application of metaphorical architecture in the Culinary Center is an important milestone in strengthening the local cultural identity.
