Perbedaan Pengaruh QDs Ekstrak Lerak (Sapindus rarak DC) 4% dengan NaOCl 2,5% dan EDTA 17% sebagai Bahan Irigasi dalam Pembersihan Smear Layer pada ⅓ Apikal Saluran Akar Gigi (Studi SEM)
Differences in Effect of 4% QDs Lerak Fruit Extract (Sapindus rarak DC) as Irrigation Materials with 2,5% NaOCl and 17% EDTA in Cleaning the Smear Layer on Apical Third of the Root Canal (SEM Study)
Abstract
One of the challenges in root canal treatment is the smear layer formed after
instrumentation, especially in the apical third, thus requiring effective irrigation. The
nanometer size of QDs can be a solution to the viscosity of 25% Ethanol Lerak Fruit
Extract to reach the apical part of the root canal. This study aims to determine the effect
of 4% QDs Lerak Fruit Extract as an irrigant in cleaning the smear layer on apical third
of the root canal and its difference compared to 2,5% NaOCl and 17% EDTA.
24 human extracted first mandibular premolars were sectioned at the CEJ,
divided into 4 groups, and prepared with crown down technique up to size F2. Group
1 will be prepared and irrigated with 4% QDs Lerak Fruit Extract, group 2 will be
prepared and irrigated with 2,5% NaOCl followed by 4% QDs Lerak Fruit Extract as
final rinse, group 3 will be prepared and irrigated with 2,5% NaOCl followed by 17%
EDTA as final rinse, group 4 will be prepared and irrigated with saline. Each sample
will be sectioned into two halves and examined under SEM at 1000x magnification on
the apical third.
Kruskal-Wallis test result showed significant differences between all groups
with p=0.006 (p<0.05). Results showed 4% QDs Lerak Fruit Extract is effective in
cleaning the smear layer in the apical third. 4% QDs Lerak Fruit Extract + 2,5% NaOCl
as irrigant material has the best effect in cleaning the smear layer in the apical third of
the root canal.
