dc.description.abstract | Oxalic Acid is a derivative compound of carboxylic acid containing two carboxyl groups located at the end of a straight carbon chain. Oxalic Acid is widely used in the detergent industry which serves to protect the color of clothing, as an electrolyte in anode oxidation of aluminum, as an ingredient in the purification of glycerol and stearin and as a bleaching agent in wood resins. The main objective of this plant design is to implement the discipline of chemical engineering and become the initial information in the design of oxalic acid manufacturing plant. The plant design of oxalic acid production from coconut fiber uses the alkaline smelting method with a production capacity of 2,250 tons/year. The main process in this factory design consists of 4 stages, namely the preparation of raw materials, the stage of making oxalic acid, acidification and the product purification stage. This oxalic acid plant is planned to be established in Tembilahan Sub-district, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau, Indonesia with a land area of 9,757 m2. The plant operates 24 hours per day, 330 working days per year with 145 employees. The form of business entity in this oxalic acid factory is a Limited Liability Company (PT). For the establishment and operation of the plant requires investment capital of Rp 325,331,479,614 and production costs of Rp 321,716,750,415. Based on the feasibility analysis, this plant has a BEP of 30.18%, ROI of 38.59%, POT for 2.59 years, RON of 64.31% and IRR of 42.72%. From the results of economic analysis, it can be concluded that the pre-fabrication of oxalic acid production plant from coconut fiber using alkaline smelting method with a production capacity of 2,250 tons/year is feasible. | en_US |
