Occupational accidents are something that should be avoided, so it is necessary
to analyze the factors that cause occupational accidents. Welding workers at PT
Mita Luhur Medan from 2022 to 2024 still experience work accidents with an
accumulation of 2 minor accidents and 1 serious accident. The purpose of this
study was to analyze the factors that cause work accidents in welding workers at
PT Mitsa Luhur Medan in 2024 by looking at unsafe actions, human error, and
heredity and social environment. This study is a qualitative study conducted by
conducting in-depth interviews with the director as a key informant, 5 workers as
the main informant about work accidents and information from interviews with 1
HSE supporting informant in the form of questions about K3 policies and work
accidents. The technique used is snowball sampling, the data analysis method
used in this study is the interactive data analysis model of Miles and Huberman.
The results of the study showed that accidents most often occur due to unsafe
actions, namely not wearing safety shoes, not wearing welding glasses and not
wearing gloves, physical hazards, namely being hit by material and mechanical
hazards, namely the layout of the material is not appropriate. Unsafe acts are
also caused by human error, namely the error of the HSE party, lack of
supervision (conducting supervision only once a week), the HSE party chooses
welding glasses that do not have a certificate or safety standards and errors from
workers because workers do not dare to tell the HSE party because workers are
afraid that the HSE party does not believe them. Human error is also caused by
the social environment, namely when working, workers joke with other workers.
Therefore, workers are advised to always use complete PPE, supervision is
carried out once a day by the HSE party, and behave well while working, and for
companies it is recommended to increase prevention of work accidents.
