Management of Nursing Care for Type II Diabetes Mellitus Clients to Reduce Blood Glucose Levels by Providing Boiled Water from Bay Leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) in Sukamaju Village, West Binjai District
Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) due to failure of insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Diabetes mellitus treatment is pharmacological and non-pharmacological. One non-pharmacological treatment for diabetes mellitus is with herbal plants, boiled bay leaf water. The aim of this seinor practical is to determine the effect of giving bay leaf boiled water on reducing blood sugar levels in 3 clients suffering from type II diabetes mellitus in Environment VII, Sukamaju Village, West Binjai District. Based on the results of nursing care management for clients, there were differences in the blood glucose levels of respondents before and after being given the bay leaf boiled water intervention. It can be concluded that giving boiled water from bay leaves is effective in reducing blood glucose levels in people in Environment VII, Sukamaju Village, West Binjai District. It is recommended to lower blood sugar levels using non-pharmacological treatment from bay leaves, besides that it is also easy to find, relatively cheap and can be obtained at home.
