Management of Nursing Care for Hypertension Clients with DASH Diet Education (Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension) in Padang Bulan Medan Subdistric
Abstract
Knowledge is a determining factor in maintaining and improving health status which
infiuences attitudes and healthy living behavior. Dash Diet (Dietary Approach to Stop
Hypertension) is an example of healthy living attitudes and behavior modified in lifestyle
and diet. The aim of doing the Das diet is to reduce or even stop high blood pressure, help
reduce weight and reduce the risk of heart disease, heart failure and stroke or other
complications of hypertension. The aim of this research is to manage nursing care for
hypertensive clients with dash diet education. Dash diet education in the nursing care
process starts from assessment, determining nursing problems, intervention,
implementation to evaluation. The method used in this case study is descriptive with a
single case design with one client. The instrument in this case study uses a questionnaire.
The assessment results obtained regarding the client's level of knowledge regarding the
educational topic that will be provided, the client was only able to answer 3 out of 12
questions with a percentage of 25%, meaning that the client's knowledge was still very
lacking, especially regarding the fast diet topic. The results obtained after intervention
with the client are that the client understands and is able to explain the material provided.
The evaluation obtained was that the client responded well and looked curious and
interested in this dash diet. It is recommended that active activities in the community
can provide changes regarding healthy behavior or lifestyle in groups of people from
childbearing age to the elderly and routinely provide education as a health service or
regular health coaching regarding recommended eating patterns, especially for
hypertension sufferers.
