The Analysis of Promotion of Library University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra through Social Media
Abstract
This research aimed to analyze promotions carried out by the library University OF
Muhammadiyah North Sumatra (UMSU) through social media. This research was conducted at
the library UMSU located on Captain Muchtar Basri Street Number.3, Glugur Darat II,
Subdistrict. Medan Tim., Medan City, North Sumatra 20238. The method in this research is
descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews and
observations, with informants consisting of the Head of the Library, Coordinator for User
Services, Coordinator for IT Planning and Development, and Librarian for Public Relations. The
research results showed that the library UMSU implemented various promotional strategies on
social media with interesting content such as webinars, workshops, contests and giveaways on
platforms such as lnstagram, YouTube, TikTok and Facebook. However, the main challenges
were creating consistently interesting and relevant content, as well as handling user feedback
outside of working hours. Feedback from users showed a positive response to the content
presented, with praise for the interactive content and trust in tl1e data protection implemented by
the library.
