The Effectiveness of Health Education on Knowledge Levels of Hypertensive Patients at Desa Lama Health Center
Abstract
Hypertension is one of the primary risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, leading to heart attacks, heart failure, stroke, and kidney disease. This study aims to assess the knowledge levels of hypertensive patients at the Desa Lama Health Center before and after receiving health education on hypertension. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design on 30 hypertensive patients in June 2024. The researcher used the Hypertension Knowledge Level Scale (HKLS) Indonesian Version questionnaire, consisting of 22 questions. The results indicated that health education is effective in improving the knowledge of hypertensive patients at the Desa Lama Health Center. The Wilcoxon test results showed p=0.000 < a < 0.05, indicating a significant difference in knowledge levels before and after receiving health education. To enhance the quality of health education, further research should consider modifications and reassessment of the effectiveness in hypertensive patients at the Desa Lama Health Center.
