Hubungan Dukungan Keluarga dengan Kualitas Hidup Lansia di Desa Paluh Kurau Deli Serdang

Abstract

Family support refers to the care and assistance provided by family members to the elderly, including instrumental, informational, appraisal, and emotional support. which can influence the quality of life of the elderly. This study aims to identify the relationship between family support and the quality of life among the elderly in Paluh Kurau Village, Deli Serdang. The research employed a cross-sectional design, with a sample size of 90 elderly individuals selected using total sampling technique. The results indicated that there is a positive correlation between family support and the quality of life among the elderly. Specifically, 77 elderly individuals (80%) reported good family support, and 83 elderly individuals (92.2%) reported a good quality of life. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test yielded a p-value of 0.001, which is smaller than the significance level (a = 0.050). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between family support and the quality of life among the elderly. This study is expected to provide insights to health educators on the importance of family support in enhancing the quality of life of the elderly and to offer recommendations for interventions that can increase this support.
