Family Support in The Ability to Do Daily Activities for The Elderly at The Elderly in The Village of Perumnas Simalingkar
Abstract
When someone is 60 years and older, They will experience a slow physical
change that causes them a high risk of developing diseases such as hypertension,
Diabetes Mellitus, uric acid, cholesterol and family dependence. To identify
family support in the ability to do daily activities for the elderly at the elderly
Posyandu, Simalingkar Village, which includes 4 dimensions, emotional support,
information support, instrumental support, and award support. The type of
research used is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The sampling technique
used in this study is total sampling and 81 respondents obtained that match the
criteria. Family support was measured using pre-used questionnaires in previous
valid and reliable researchers. Data retrieval techniques are conducted by
interview. There are 47 people who are valid respondents' total data collection
obstacles. The results showed that 95.8% of respondents were categorized as
good at daily activities and 4.2% in moderate categories. Based on the results of
this study, the elderly have good support from their families, and are active in
doing daily activities both indoors and outdoors, such as: socializing with peers,
sewing, gardening, participating in religious activities. For respondents with
sufficient categories, it is hoped that families will provide support to improve the
ability of the elderly to carry out daily activities.
