Educational videos are a health promotion medium that combines motion media, audio media, and visual media into one comprehensive educational tool. Heart failure is a common and complex clinical syndrome resulting from functional or structural heart abnormalities that impair ventricular filling or blood ejection into systemic circulation, failing to meet the body's needs. Self-efficacy refers to an individual's belief in their ability to respond to specific situations. Self-care involves decisions made by the patient alone or with their family to manage the disease, maintain functional abilities, and achieve well-being. This study aims to determine the effect of educational videos on self-efficacy and self-care behavior in heart failure patients at the Cardiology Clinic of Pirngadi Hospital, Medan. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest format. The sample consisted of 84 respondents, with 42 in the intervention group and 42 in the control group. The sample was selected using G-Power software. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test. The results indicated a significant effect of educational videos on self-efficacy and self-care behavior in heart failure patients at the Cardiology Clinic of RSUD. Dr. Pirngadi Medan, with a significance value of p = 0.001 <0.05.
Conclusion: There is a significant effect of educational videos on self-efficacy and self-care behavior.
