Hypertension is one of the major non-communicable diseases (NCD) worldwide, significantly contributing to the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVDs), stroke, kidney failure, disability and premature death. Aprpoximately 49% of heart attack cases and 62% of stroke cases each year result from hypertension complications. Therefore, hypertension can adversely impact the economic, such as loss of household income due to illnes or disability. This research aims to identify the determinants of hypertension in PTM posbindu participants in Meunasah Timu Village, Aceh. This quantitative research employs an analytical observational design with a cross sectional approach, observing or measuring variables at one specific point in time with a sample size 50 individuals. The research results of the study indicate that hypertensive patients visiting Posbindu for health checks predominantly aged 45 – 59 years (68.0%), female (78%), and all of them are of Acehnese ethnicity and islam. The study concludes that nonmodifiable risk factors, such as age, gender, and family history of hypertension, influence the occurrence of hypertension. However, some research finding suggest that age, gender, and family history are not always risk factors for hypertension. On the other hand modifiable factors such as smoking habits, consumption of salty foods or foods containing salt, coffe consumption, and obesity are not always determinants of hypertension. Several physiological and hormonal reasons, as well as the type of food or substance consumed, can be well tolerated by the body. It is hoped that health centers will continue to provide regular education to improve the knowledge, attitudes and actions of the community regarding the many risk factors for hypertension.en_US
