Heart failure disease is a cardiovascular disease that often occurs throughout the world and results in high mortality, morbidity and also has a financial impact. Rehospitalization in heart failure patients is caused by delays in symptom recognition, treatment and dietary non- compliance and lack of knowledge and skills in self-care so that a nursing intervention is needed that can increase knowledge and emphasize the importance of self-care behavior. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of supportive education on knowledge and self- care behavior in patients with heart failure. The research design is a quasi experiment Non- equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a total sample of 50 heart failure patients admitted to the cardiovascular inpatient room and continued to the cardiac polyclinic at the time of control patients who were divided into two groups, 25 intervention groups and 25 control groups. Data collection instruments for knowledge used the Dutch Heart Failure Knowledge Scale questionnaire and self-care behavior instruments with The European Heart Failure Self-care Behavior scale (EHFSCB). Data analysis used Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that there was an effect of supportive education on knowledge and self-care behavior in heart failure patients after being given supportive education with a value of P=0.001 (<0.05). There is an effect of supportive education on knowledge and self-care behavior in heart failure patients after being given supportive education in the intervention group and control group with a value of P=0.001 (<0.05). This supportive education can be used as one of the effective nursing interventions to improve knowledge and self-care behavior in heart failure patients so that they can optimize their function in carrying out daily activities.en_US
