Assessment of Soil Chemical Properties in People's Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Plantations in Bilah Hulu District, Labuhanbatu Regency
Abstract
This study aims to assess the chemical properties of soil in oil palm plantations of smallholder plantations of Bilah Hulu District, Labuhanbatu Regency. The method used is descriptive method, soil sampling in this study using purposive random sampling technique. Oil palm soil samples were taken based on a land unit map overlay on a slope of 0-8%; 8-15%; 15-25%; 25-45%. SPL 1, SPL 2 and SPL 3 are Inceptisol soil types. SPL 4, SPL 5, SPL 6, SPL 7 Ultisol soil type. Parameters taken pH, N-total, P-available, C-organic, CEC, base saturation. The results of the study of soil chemical properties in the smallhorder plantations of Bilah Hulu Subdistrict, Labuhanbatu Regency Inceptisol soil showed the criteria of acidic pH (4.68 - 5.09), low C-organic (1.11 - 1.40%), low N-total (0.17 - 0.20%), low available P (6.68 - 7.44%), moderate - high CEC (18.88 - 27.60 me/100g), and very low - moderate base saturation (17.46 - 39.35%). Ultisol soil showed acidic pH criteria (4.84 - 5.06), very low - low C-organic (0.75 - 1.16%), low N-total (0.13 - 0.16%), low available P (4.92 - 7.79%), low - medium CEC (14.5 - 17.49 me/100g), and low base saturation (21.69 - 31.27%).
