Ganoderma boninense has been identified as the most common species that
infects and causes death in oil palm. Soil moisture can affect the development and
spread of Ganoderma disease. Detection of Ganoderma infestation in oil palm
plants has been done using remote sensing, such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
(UAV). This research aims to assess the NDWI (Normalized Difference Water
Index) method to estimate soil moisture status in oil palm plantations attacked by
Ganoderma disease in Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute (PPKS)
Experimental Plantation Sei Aek Pancur, Deli Serdang Regency. This research
was conducted from January 2024 to June 2024. Sampling in the field was based
on the level of Ganoderma infestation. The results of this research showed that
soil moisture and NDWI with a negative correlation r = -0.474. Soil temperature
has a significant correlation on soil moisture with a negative correlation value of
r = -0.498. The relationship of multiple linear regression of NDWI and soil
temperature followed the equation Y = 28.786 - 35.784 NDWI - 0.636 soil
temperature and the relationship was moderate with R2 = 0.339.
