The prevalence of diabetes mellitus among individuals aged ≥15 years, based on physician diagnoses, increased from 2.0 percent in 2018 to 2.2 percent. Various complications experienced by type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients can be prevented if they adopt appropriate health behaviors. This study aims to analyze the influence of social support and motivation on the health behaviors of T2DM patients in Medan City in 2024. The study employed a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 109 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Bivariate data analysis was performed using the chi-square test, while multivariate analysis was conducted using multiple logistic regression. The study results revealed a significant influence of social support (p- value 0.000) and motivation (p-value 0.000) on the health behaviors of T2DM patients in Medan City. The most dominant factor affecting health behaviors was social support, with an Exp(B) value of 27.901. This means that respondents with inadequate social support were 27 times more likely not to engage in proper health behaviors compared to those with good social support. The study concludes that social support and motivation significantly influence the health behaviors of T2DM patients in Medan City in 2024. It is recommended that family members actively seek information about appropriate health behaviors for diabetes mellitus patients and apply this knowledge in daily life. Additionally, patients are encouraged to enhance their motivation and adopt healthy behaviors to control blood sugar levels and prevent complications associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
