Pemanfaatan Amandemen Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit Pada Pertumbuhan Bibit Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis guineensis jacq.) Periode Pre-Nursery di Tanah Ultisol
Utilization of Oil Palm Empty Bunch Amendment on the Growth of Oil Palm (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) Seedlings in the Pre-Nursery Period in Ultisol
Abstract
Oil palm is an important commodity for the Indonesian economy as it produces
vegetable oil that is needed by industries. Its production produces waste, including
oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB), which is expected to be utilized as compost to
replace inorganic fertilizers. Ultisol is poor in nutrients such as c-organic, nitrogen,
phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and low pH, and has high aluminum content.
This study aims to assess the effect of giving empty palm bunches amendment
(Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) on the growth of oil palm seedlings at the pre-nursery
stage in Ultisol. This research was conducted in April 2024 - July 2024 in Buntu
Pane Sub-district, Asahan Regency, North Sumatera with an altitude of ± 86 meters
above sea level. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting
of 4 treatments with 5 repetitions, namely P0: Control, P1: 200 g Empty Palm
Bunch, P2: 200 g Oil Palm Empty Bunch Biochar, P3: 200 g Oil Palm Empty Bunch
Compost. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the provision of 200g
of oil palm empty fruit bunch compost was the best treatment to increase the height
and number of leaves of oil palm plants. The application of oil palm empty fruit
bunch compost is the best treatment because it can improve soil nutrient content
and support nutrient absorption by pre-nursery oil palm seedlings.
