Self Disclosure Pengasuh dengan Orang Tua di Yayasan Guna Budi Bakti Medan
Self Disclosure of Caregivers with Parents at Yayasan Guna Budi Bakti Medan
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out the self-disclosure (self-disclosure) produced through the relationship between caregivers and parents at the Guna Budi Bakti Medan Foundation. The theory used is the theory of Joseph A. Devito who proposed five characteristics of the effectiveness of interpersonal communication. In this theory, it is necessary to observe whether the communication process between caregivers and parents has openness, similarity, empathy, support, and positivity. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method, data is obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects of the research are parents and caregivers at the Guna Budi Bakti Medan Foundation. This research uses data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the more we interact the more we know and understand the character of a person (caregiver or elderly client), both parties will pay attention as a whole so that they begin to get used to being open, relaxed, more familiar and able to provide solutions to the problems faced and also be able to assess and predict the behavior of the interlocutor. In the process of self-openness between caregivers and parents at the Guna Budi Bakti Medan Foundation, it is circular communication because there is feedback between caregivers and parents in interacting.
