Pre-Design of a Factory for Making Silica Gel from Coal Fly Ash with a Production Capacity of 30,000 Tons / Year and Special Tasks Detailed Engineering Design of the Reactor
Abstract
This thesis for making silica gel from coal fly ash was prepared with a production
capacity of 30,000 tons/year using the Supra Yield process. This process takes
place in a reactor with a temperature of 100°C and a pressure of 1 atm. In the
reactor, the hydrolysis process of silicon dioxide with sodium hydroxide occurs to
produce sodium silicate. The specific task in this thesis is the detailed design of
the reactor. The company in this thesis is planned to be a Limited Liability
Company (PT) using a line and staff organizational structure. The number of
workers needed to run the factory is 145 people. The factory location is planned to
be in Bhinor Village, Paiton District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java Province,
Indonesia. With a total land area of 20,000 m2. The water requirements for this
factory are planned to be obtained from the Jabung River with a total water
demand of 188,583.39 kg/hour. The results of the economic analysis of this thesis
are as follows: Total investment capital is Rp. 1,515,590,383,374.50 and total
production costs Rp. 2,492,551,160,976.59. Sales proceeds Rp.
3,000,000,000,000. Net profit Rp. 348.164.903.570. Profit margin (PM) 16,91%.
Break even point (BEP) 21,03 % . Return on investment (ROI) 22,97 %. Pay out
time (POT) 4.35 Tahun. Return on network (RON) 38,29 %. Internal rate of return
(IRR) 25,64 %. From the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded
that making Silica Gel from Coal Fly Ash is feasible for setting up a factory.
