dc.description.abstractSocial capital refers to the network of relationships and norms that facilitate cooperation within groups and communities. In the context of community development, social capital plays an important role in improving welfare and facilitating access to resources. The purpose of this study is to determine the elements that form the social capital of traders, to determine the forms of social capital of traders and their benefits related to the existence of traditional markets in Horas Market, Pematangsiantar City. This study uses the Social Capital theory. This study uses a mixed methods research method that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches. Qualitative research through in-depth interviews with 8 informants with a sampling technique using a purposive sampling technique. Quantitative research through the provision of questionnaires given to 100 respondents with a simple random sampling technique. Norms contain rules that must be obeyed by traders to maintain market order. Social networks formed through interactions between traders, suppliers, and customers strengthen cooperation. Trust is a key element for traders to rely on each other to achieve mutual success. The results of the study showed that traders in Horas Market showed positive social capital as seen from the average score of the questionnaire results of 3.03 on a Likert scale. The results of the study show that bonding in Horas Market is a social capital that forms bonds between traders, building trust and solidarity within the community. Bridging bridges traders with the outside community to increase social support and ethnic diversity into assets that enrich social interactions in the market. Linking connects cooperation between traders and authorities, such as the government and financial institutions that support market development through programs and policies.en_US
