Kajian Kinerja Mesin Genset Berbahan Bakar Campuran Biogas-Pertalite
Performance Study of Genset Engine Fueled by Biogas-Pertalite Mixture
Abstract
Energy plays an important role in supporting various human activities every
day. One promising energy solution to reduce dependence on fossil fuels is biogas,
which can be an environmentally friendly alternative. This research aims with the
addition of biogas fuel mixed with pertalite oil on carburetor modification to get
savings in fuel consumption rates. This research uses a 2 Factorial Completely
Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 replications. The first factor is based on
variations in biogas flow rate (V) consisting of V1 = 0 L/minutes, V2 = 0.5
l/minutes, V3 = 1 l/minutes, V4 = 1.5 l/minutes. The second factor is based on the
variation of operating time on the dual fuel system generator engine (T) consisting
of T 1 = 5 minutes, T 2 = 10 minutes, T 3 = 15 minutes. The results showed that the
purification of biogas as much as 270 L to be used on a biogas-pertalite-fueled
generator engine at a biogas flow rate speed of 1.5 L/minutes with a length of
operation on the generator engine for 5 minutes can save fuel oil pertalite 6.47
mL/minutes or 45% and increase the output power of the generator engine from
391.02 W to 420.23 W with engine torque 1.32 Nm. This study shows that a mixture
of biogas and pertalite can operate a generator with carburetor modification,
improve performance, and save fossil fuels.
