On a motorbike, braking is one of the components that functions to slow down speed and stop the vehicle. Wear on motorbike brake linings is often not detected in time, thereby risking reducing braking performance. To see the level of wear, users usually take their motorbike to the nearest repair shop to see the size of the remaining brake linings. So, based on this problem, researchers designed a system to help users see the size of the remaining brake linings, which is called a brake lining thickness measurement system based on image processing on motorbikes. This system uses the grayscale method, thresholding method, Gaussian blur method and contour detection method. The grayscale method is used to simplify the brake lining image and reduce the noise, changing the color image to a black and white image. The thresholding method aims to change the grayscale image of the brake lining into a binary image (black and white), to make it easier to detect the brake lining and separate it from the background, in this case the threshold T value is 107. The Gaussian blur method is to reduce noise on the brake lining, so that after the results smoother. For the Gaussian kernel size it has a width of 5 and a height of 5, and the standard deviation is 0. And the contour detection method is to detect and describe the edges or boundaries of objects in the brake lining and create a box in the object so that the object in the form of a brake lining can be measured. The results will be sent to the computer in jpg form. In this research, a webcam was used for detection. Detection is carried out at a distance of 5 cm to 25 cm from the brake lining. By using this method the system is able to measure the thickness of the brake lining and has a accuracy value of 98.505% for the right brake and 98.145% for the left brake.en_US
