dc.description.abstract | Design and construction of biomass stove using empty oil palm bunches (EFB) briquettes
as renewable alternative energy for households and as a substitute for fossil fuels whose
availability is decreasing. This briquette stove is designed with a primary air hole of 132
mm and a secondary air hole of 12 mm, using EFB briquettes as fuel with a calorific value
of 5,993 cal/g. The method used to determine the performance of the briquette stove is the
Water Boiling Test (WBT) with 2 variations of air supply, natural draft and using a fan
with an air speed of 2 m/s. The results of the performance test of this briquette stove
obtained data on fuel consumption specifications, flame time, and thermal efficiency. In
test 1 with a natural draft air variation, the results for specific fuel consumption were
0.8338 Mj/hour, flame time 2 minutes, thermal efficiency 10.50% and in tester 2, specific
fuel consumption was 1.2507 MJ/hour, flame time 30 seconds, thermal efficiency 10.92%.
The test results showed that sufficient air supply during combustion can increase the flame
time and thermal efficiency. | en_US |
