Dampak dan Faktor Judi Online Dikalangan Remaja di Jalan Gaperta Ujung Kecamatan Medan Helvetia

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact and factors influencing teenage involvement in online gambling on Jalan Gaperta Ujung, Medan Helvetia District. Using a qualitative approach with interview, observation, and documentation methods, this research involves informants consisting of teenage online gamblers, the surrounding community, and relevant authorities. The findings indicate that the main factors influencing teenage involvement in online gambling include social and economic factors, environmental pressure, easy access to digital devices, and low levels of digital literacy and parental supervision. Online gambling has significant negative impacts, including financial losses, psychological distress, and changes in social behavior such as increased family conflicts and declining academic performance. Furthermore, despite law enforcement efforts against online gambling, regulatory and enforcement challenges remain major obstacles in reducing this phenomenon. This study recommends enhancing education and supervision regarding internet usage among teenagers, as well as active involvement from the government and society in creating a safer environment free from the influence of online gambling.
