A relegious instructor holds a position subordinate to the Minister of Religion, and is responsible with mentoring, motivating, and encouraging the community in relegious and social activites. In addition to the civil servant Islamic Religion Instructors, there are also non-civil servant Islamic Religion Instructors who hold the status of honorary employee. It has been observed that the performance of non-civil servant Islamic Religious in Langkat Regency from 2020 to 2022 is not meeting the performance objectives and work expectation. The objective of this study is to examine the effect of motivation and social support on the employee performance through their learning interest. A descriptive quantitative methodology with linear analysis is used to test the study hypotheses. The study finds that both motivation and social support has an effect on the performance as observed through their learning interest. However, social support does not have effect on the employee performance. It is recommended that the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia in Langkat Regency enhance the learning interest of non-civil servant Islamic Religion Instructors, because it has been proven that the learning process enhances employee performance.
