Monitoring Penebangan Liar Hutan Mangrove di Desa Lubuk Kertang Menggunakan Citra Sentinel-1 Dan Sentinel-2 Dengan Metode Thresholding Indeks Vegetasi

Abstract

Mangrove forests have significant ecological, economic, and social roles in maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems. Mangrove damage covers 740 ha (61.67%) of the total mangrove forest area of 1,200 ha. Mangrove forest damage is classified as severe, namely 528 ha (71.35%) of the 740 ha mangrove damage area. The purpose of this study was to monitor changes in land cover due to encroachment of mangrove forest areas in Lubuk Kertang Village, Langkat Regency, in 2018 and 2024 using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. The methods used include thresholding analysis, maximum likelihood classification (MLC), and spectral index. The method of data collection in the field was carried out by purposive sampling of 192 observation plots. The results of the thresholding analysis in this study showed that NDVI was able to detect encroachment with the highest accuracy of 84% and a significant increase in the area of encroachment from 2018 to 2024.
