dc.description.abstractOil palm loose fruit is a fruit grain that is separated from the main bunch because it is too ripe. The fruit comes off due to shaking during harvesting or transportation. This study aimed to produce a tool design and build a tool for collecting oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) fruit. The parameters observed include the effective capacity of the tool, the efficiency of the tool, the effectiveness of the tool and the economic aspect. The use of this tool can simplify the picking process to be more efficient, because in general it still uses traditional methods, namely using hands to pick loose fruit, and using a lot of human power. The use of this tool uses one operator, in testing the tool with 7 kg of loose weight, the average time required by the operator was 0.0691 hours.This study produced a tool with an overall tool length of 58 cm, a tool width of 42 cm, and a height of 32 cm. The results of the study showed that the average value of the effective capacity of the tool was 107.41 kg/hour. The average value of the tool efficiency was 68.86%. The average value of the tool effectiveness was 100%. The fruit picking tool will reach its break-even point or BEP if it has collected 4,414.80 kg/year of loose fruit and meets the criteria for being feasible or profitable because the NPV value generated is > 0, which is Rp.275,922,894/year at an interest rate of 6% and Rp. 251,959,748/year at an interest rate of 10%. With an IRR value on this tool of 56.28%.en_US
