This research discusses the concept of Ie depicted in the movie Still Walking directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. Still Walking is one of Kore-eda's best films. This movie is a traditional movie of Japanese society that depicts traditional Japanese culture. In Japanese culture, Ie is a family concept that includes values such as tradition, and relationships between generations. In this study, the author uses the theory of the Japanese family according to Ariga Kizaemon and the theory of literary sociology used as a foundation in this study. The purpose of this research is to analyze the concept of Ie and also identify the symbols that appear in the film. This research uses descriptive qualitative method as the main approach in the research process. The results of this study show that the concept of Ie as a traditional Japanese family system is clearly depicted in the film Still Walking, which emphasizes family values, ancestor worship, and gender roles, especially the position of women. These values are manifested through various cultural symbols and customs, such as ancestor worship altars, kakun culinary traditions, and forms of respect for deceased family members. Such symbols not only reflect respect for the past, but also affirm the continuity of family values passed down from generation to generation.en_US
