Nilai Sosial dalam Kumpulan Cerpen Musim di Rambut Ibu Karya Mashdar Zainal: Kajian Sosiologi Sastra

Abstract

This research aims to describe the various social values ​​reflected in the short story collection Musim di Rambut Ibu by Mashdar Zainal through a literary sociology approach. The main focus of this research is to reveal how social values ​​that are closely related to the reality of people's lives are represented in these literary works. The social values ​​explained refer to a theory that divides social values ​​into three main categories: first, affection (love), which includes the values ​​of devotion, help, kinship, loyalty, and care; second, responsibility, which consists of a sense of ownership, discipline and empathy; and third, harmony of life, which includes the values ​​of justice, tolerance, cooperation and democracy. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, where the data collected is in the form of words, phrases and paragraphs that reflect the social values ​​in the short stories. The main data source comes from the short story collection Musim di Rambut Ibu published by Kompas in 2024 with a total of 164 pages. The data collection technique was carried out through the observation and attention method to capture an in-depth representation of social values. After all the data has been collected, the analysis process is carried out through three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that there are three groups of social values ​​that stand out in the work, namely the values ​​of love, responsibility and harmony of life, each of which is explained in the value elements mentioned previously.
