With the increasing use of social media, understanding social media literacy has become essential to mitigate negative impacts such as digital fatigue resulting from excessive usage. This study aims to examine the influence of doomscrolling and social media literacy on digital fatigue among Gen Z in Medan City. A quantitative approach was used, employing multiple linear regression analysis. The partial test (t-test) results showed that doomscrolling has a positive and significant effect on digital fatigue (p < 0.001), with a regression coefficient of 0.252, while social media literacy has a negative and significant effect on digital fatigue (P = 0.028), with a regression coefficient of -0.156. The simultaneous test (F-test) indicated that doomscrolling and social media literacy collectively have a significant effect on digital fatigue (p < 0.001), with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 13.1%. The regression equation derived in this study is: Y = 27.805 + (0.252 X1) + (-0.156 X2). An increase of one unit in doomscrolling contributes to a 0.252 unit increase in digital fatigue, whereas an increase of one unit in social media literacy leads to a 0.156 unit reduction in digital fatigue. These findings suggest that increased doomscrolling activity contributes to higher digital fatigue, while better social media literacy can help alleviate it. This highlights the importance of enhancing social media literacy to reduce the negative impact of social media use among Gen Z.en_US
