    Abstract
    This study is a pragmatic analysis of directive speech acts in Shinichiro Ushijima's animated film “Kimi No Suizou Wo Tabetai.” Directive speech acts are speech acts that have a specific purpose in utterances. The purpose of this study is to identify the forms and uses of each type of directive speech act in the animated film “Kimi No Suizou Wo Tabetai” by Shinichiro Ushijima. The research data consists of dialogues in the film, analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was conducted using free listening and note-taking techniques. This study utilized directive speech act theory and pragmatic theory. The results showed that there were 29 instances of directive speech acts in the animated film “Kimi No Suizou Wo Tabetai” by Shinichiro Ushijima. The data were classified into five categories: commands, requests, prohibitions, permissions, and suggestions. The command form consists of the forms ~nasai and ~ou/you. The request form consists of the forms ~te kure, ~onegai, ~naide kure, ~te hoshii, and ~te itadakeru. The prohibition form consists of the forms ~naide and ~te ha dame. The permission form consists of the form ~te mo ii. The recommendation form consists of the forms ~ta hou ga ii and ~ba ii. The use of directive speech acts in Shinichiro Ushijima's animated film “Kimi No Suizou Wo Tabetai” serves to direct actions and reflect the relationships between characters. The most frequently used forms of directive speech acts in Shinichiro Ushijima's animated film “Kimi No Suizou Wo Tabetai” are the prohibition form ~naide and the command form ~nasai. Thus, this study examines the forms and usage of directive speech acts in Shinichiro Ushijima's animated film “Kimi No Suizou Wo Tabetai”.
