dc.description.abstract | Rural development has become one of the main priorities of the Indonesian
government, aiming to alleviate poverty and improve the living standards of its
citizens, with an emphasis on community welfare. Rural areas are particularly affected
by poverty, as reflected in the national poverty rate, which reached 9.03% in 2024. This
study aims to analyze the role of the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) Mangrove
Maju Bersama in improving community welfare in Tanjung Rejo Village, Percut Sei
Tuan Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency. BUMDes serves as one of the instruments for
rural economic development, managed jointly by the community and the village
government. In the context of Tanjung Rejo Village, BUMDes Mangrove Maju
Bersama operates in the ecotourism and mangrove management sectors, which not only
contribute to increasing the village's original income but also provide employment
opportunities and empowerment for the surrounding community. This study uses a
qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth
interviews, field observations, and documentation. Informants consisted of BUMDes
administrators, village officials, and community members who were directly or
indirectly involved in BUMDes activities. The findings show that BUMDes Mangrove
Maju Bersama plays a crucial role in creating job opportunities, increasing community
income, and strengthening the sense of ownership and participation of residents in
village development. Despite facing several challenges such as limited capital and
managerial capacity, the existence of BUMDes has had a positive impact on the social
and economic aspects of the village community. Thus, it can be concluded that
BUMDes Mangrove Maju Bersama makes a significant contribution to improving the
welfare of the people in Tanjung Rejo Village. The sustainability and strengthening of
BUMDes institutional capacity must continue to be encouraged so that its benefits can
be more widely felt by all segments of the village community. | en_US |
