This research uses organic solid waste such as mahogany leaf litter and durian skin in
making particle board. The use of organic solid waste is needed by the industrial sector
due to limited wood. This research aims to determine the process of making particle
board using organic waste as basic materials in the form of durian skin, mahogany
leaves and fiberglass, as well as to determine the physical properties, mechanical
properties and microscopic properties. Particleboard made from organic waste and
fiberglass is then mixed using isocyanate adhesive with a content of 10%. Pressing
corresponds to a temperature of 160°C and a time of 10 minutes with a pressure of 45
kg/cm2. The research results show that the physical density properties have not met the
desired target of 0.7 g/cm3 but have met the JIS A 5908-2003 standard. In the results of
testing the physical properties, water absorption capacity and thickness expansion have
met JIS A 5908-2003 standards. The MOE mechanical properties test results did not
meet the JIS A 5908-2003 standard, while the MOR test results were only particle board
which had a ratio of 50% durian to 50% fiberglass which met the standard and the
internal bond test results of the particle board met the standard, namely a ratio of 100%
durian.
