dc.description.abstract | The family is the smallest social unit that plays a central role in the growth and
development of children. Family support is a crucial factor in ensuring child well-
being, especially for children living in socially and economically disadvantaged
conditions. This study aims to describe the forms of family support in improving the
well-being of children at Sanggar Anak Sungai Deli, a non-formal educational
institution located along the banks of the Deli River in Medan City. This research uses
a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include
observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants consist
of the children’s family members, sanggar administrators, and children who actively
participate in sanggar activities. The results show that family support is reflected in
six indicators: positive emotional relationships, provision of safety and comfort,
instilling positive values, support for education and talent development, protection
from negative influences, and limited fulfillment of basic needs. This support directly
contributes to the achievement of child well-being in emotional, social, and intellectual
aspects, although the physical aspect remains less fulfilled. Despite living in
economically constrained conditions, families demonstrate care and commitment in
supporting their children. Sanggar Anak Sungai Deli serves as an essential partner in
supporting the family's role to create a safe, positive, and holistic learning environment
for children's overall development. | en_US |
