Partisipasi Perempuan dalam Politik (Studi pada Anggota DPRD Perempuan Kota Medan Hasil Pemilihan Umum Tahun 2004 di DPRD Kota Medan)

Abstract

Participation is the fundamental aspect of the process of democracy. In this case, the women participation is necessary to be serious attention. The asumption of the idea is the number of the women voters in Medan City get balanced compared with the men voters. In fact, however, the number of the female me~bers of local legislative council (DPRD) of Medan City is not balanced With the number of male members of local legislative council (DPRD) of Medan City. For the women, their involvement and participation in the public and public world is an obligation, besides the representation of the women is one aspect of the human rights. With the support of transparency climate nowadays the complexity of the relationship between gender and democracy also get the large number portion of attention by all stakeholders. Based on the condition above, so the core problem of this research is about. The type research is narrative (descriptive) by using qualitative approach. The informants are taken from the whole the female members of local legislative council (DPRD) of Medan City. The technique of data collecting is interview to the whole informants and library study. Besides the data collecting about the participations of the female members of local legislative council (DPRD) of Medan City are taken from the secretariat local legislative council (DPRD) of Medan City. . From the result of this research is obtained, that generally in planning, organizing, implementation and monitoring is active enough. However in struggling the aspiration or the issues about women, the involvement of the women is very low, except in the implementation and monitoring. The minimum numbers of the women representation in legislative causes this condition, so the representative of the women in legislative can't be optimal to strug~le !he aspiration of women. The existence of the female members of local legislative council is hoped to be able to accommodate the public interest in general and also the other gender perspective interest.
