    Abstract
    The triple intersection of Jalan Jamin Ginting and Jalan Dr. Mansyur in Medan City frequently experiences congestion due to the use of static-duration traffic lights, which fail to account for variations in vehicle density across lanes. Consequently, an adaptive traffic light control system based on real-time traffic conditions is required. This study implements the Fuzzy Mamdani and Fuzzy Tsukamoto methods to determine the optimal duration of traffic lights, considering the number of vehicles (motorcycles, cars, trucks, and buses) and road width. System performance is evaluated through key indicators, including the number of vehicles served, queue length, duration proportion, and waiting time. The results demonstrate that both fuzzy methods improve traffic flow compared to the initial static settings. However, the Fuzzy Mamdani method consistently outperforms Fuzzy Tsukamoto, achieving a higher number of vehicles served, shorter queues, and maintaining stable duration proportion across most scenarios. Therefore, the Fuzzy Mamdani method is recommended for optimizing traffic light control at highdensity intersections and is expected to significantly reduce congestion in Medan City.
