    Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the microstructural characteristics of Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) and Crumb Rubber ECC (CR-ECC) mortars by incorporating rice husk ash (RHA) and fly ash (FA) as partial cement replacements, along with crumb rubber (CR) as a fine aggregate substitute. The main objective is to analyze how material composition affects the microstructure and compressive strength of the mortar. ECC mortars were designed with varying FA and RHA ratios, while CR was introduced at 0–12.5% to the optimal ECC mix. Testing was conducted using PSA, XRF, FTIR, and SEM to observe particle size, chemical composition, functional groups, and surface morphology. The results indicated that the inclusion of RHA and FA improved the microstructure density and pozzolanic reactivity, while CR affected porosity and particle distribution within the mortar matrix. This study concludes that these waste-based materials have potential to produce environmentally friendly mortars with competitive mechanical properties, contributing to sustainable development in construction.
