Dea Yunita Br Surbakti Growth and Reproductive Biology of Yellowstripe Scad (Selaroides leptolepis) Landed at the Pantai Labu Fish Landing Site (TPI), (Under the supervision of Mrs. VINDY RILANI MANURUNG as Chair of the Advisory Committee and Mrs. AMANATUL FADHILAH as a Member of the Advisory Committee).
Yellowstripe scad is one of the species belonging to the Carangidae family, locally known as ikan tude. This fish inhabits both near-surface and bottom waters (mesopelagic zone). It has a wide distribution and can be found throughout almost the entire Indo-Pacific region. Yellowstripe scad is also considered an economically important species. It is popular among the public due to its tasty meat and affordable price, making it a common choice for consumption. This study aims to determine the growth patterns and reproductive biology of yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis) landed at the Fish Landing Site (TPI) in Pantai Labu, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. The research was conducted from October to December 2024 with a one-month sampling interval. The fish samples were collected from the Malacca Strait waters and landed at the Pantai Labu Fish Landing Site. A total of 329 yellowstripe scad specimens were collected during the study. The overall size of the yellowstripe scad ranged from 96 to 175 mm. The species exhibits a negative allometric growth pattern. Yellowstripe scad is a total spawner with egg diameter ranging from 0.08 to 1.17 mm. The sex ratio of yellowstripe scad was found to be balanced.
