dc.description.abstractDentists play a crucial role in maintaining oral health, but lengthy procedures often cause discomfort to patients, such as jaw muscle fatigue and anxiety. Dental Mouth Props are used to keep the mouth open during procedures, but they often lead to complaints regarding comfort, size incompatibility, and material elasticity. Therefore, improving the product design is necessary to enhance patient comfort and usage efficiency. This study aims to improve the design of Dental Mouth Props using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Value Engineering approaches. The first phase of QFD identifies key technical characteristics, such as mechanical strength, anatomical precision, and material elasticity. The second phase of QFD focuses on improving the structural material by replacing Silicone Rubber with Polymethyl Methacrylate, which is stronger and more cost-efficient. The Value Engineering method is used to optimize the design by evaluating alternative designs to reduce costs without compromising quality. As a result, the material replacement generates a cost savings of 52.94%, improving product efficiency, quality, and patient comfort.en_US
