Traditional markets serve as vital spaces for preserving local culture through meaningful social interactions. This study aims to identify and analyze how local wisdom serves as a form of symbolic interaction in the social relationship between sellers and buyers at the traditional culinary market "Pasar Kamu", located in Kampong Lama Village, Pantai Labu Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving 22 informants, including sellers, buyers, market managers, and local leaders. The results indicate that local cultural symbols such as traditional food, traditional clothing, a coconut-shell transaction tool called tempu, local languages, and the practice of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) form meaningful symbolic interactions within the traditional market. These interactions not only reinforce local cultural identity but also foster close social bonds among market participants. Pasar Kamu functions not only as an economic space but also as a cultural venue that preserves local wisdom amidst modernization. This study underscores the important role of traditional markets in sustaining social relationships rooted in cultural values and demonstrates how local symbols are collectively interpreted in daily life.en_US
