Transformasi Lintas Media Dari Novel Danur Karya Risa Saraswati Ke Dalam Film Danur: I Can See Ghosts Kajian Ekranisasi

Abstract

This research aims analyze the process of ekranisasi (adaptation from novel to film) of Danur, a novel by Risa Saraswati, into the film Danur: I Can See Ghosts, directed by Awi Suryadi. The main focus of this study is to identify the forms of reduction, addition, and variation that occur during the adaptation process from novel to film. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, including techniques of reading, watching, and note-taking. The data sources for this research are the novel Danur by Risa Saraswati and the film Danur: I Can See Ghosts by Awi Suryadi. The results show that the ekranisasi process involves reductions in characters and settings, such as the reduction of Risa’s ghost friends from five to three, and the removal of several supporting characters. Additionally, there are additions in characters and settings, such as the introduction of Andri as Risa’s cousin and the depiction of a supernatural realm where Risa searches for her sister, Riri. Variations in the storyline are also observed, with the film including scenes not found in the novel, such as Risa feeding her grandmother, and Asih’s character being portrayed in a more antagonis manner in the film compared to the novel. The conclusion of this research is that the ekranisasi process of the novel Danur into the film Danur: I Can See Ghosts involves various changes adapted to the needs of the film medium, both narratively and visually, in order to create a more dramatic and engaging viewing experience for the audience.
