    Abstract
This study examines the themes of diaspora and cultural identity in Leila S. Chudori's novel Pulang using a sociological approach to literature. The main focus of the study is how the diaspora experience influences the formation and transformation of the cultural identities of the main characters in the novel. Robin Cohen's theory of diaspora is used to examine forms of forced migration in the form of political threats, such as arrest, torture, and loss of freedom of speech, life in the exile community in Paris, and longing to return to the homeland. Meanwhile, Homi K. Bhabha's theory of cultural identity is used to explain the dynamics of identity that are hybrid, ambivalent, and exist in a third space between cultures. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive with content analysis techniques. The results of the study show that figures living in diaspora situations undergo a complex process of identity negotiation, which not only shows a disconnect from their culture of origin but also the formation of a new intercultural identity. Leila S. Chudori's novel Pulang not only represents the experience of political diaspora but also reflects the struggle of identity in an increasingly transnational world.
