Analysis of Supplier Selection for Jepara Sofa Raw Materials Using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) Method and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS)
Abstract
Supplier selection is a strategic activity related to the procurement of goods within a company. Jepara Top Factory operates in the manufacturing sector, with its main production focusing on Jepara sofa products. Currently, the company is experiencing inconsistencies in delivery times and varying quality of raw materials from different suppliers, which poses a potential risk of disrupting the production process. This study aims to determine the priority suppliers for teak wood, foam and fabric, as well as paint raw materials at Jepara Top Factory. Data were collected through literature reviews and interviews with the company's management and employees. The methods used for supplier selection are the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The number of suppliers evaluated includes 2 suppliers for teak wood, 3 suppliers for foam and fabric, and 3 suppliers for paint. Questionnaires were developed and distributed to five individuals consisting of the company’s managers and employees. All suppliers were assessed based on the criteria of price, quality, delivery, flexibility, service, and warranty, which were adapted from previous studies on supplier selection and aligned with the company’s current conditions. The AHP method was used to obtain the global weights, which were then utilized in the TOPSIS method to calculate the preference values. The evaluation results indicate that the best supplier for the teak wood category is X1 (0,7090), for foam and fabric is Y2 (0,7206), and for paint is Z1 (0,8326).
