dc.description.abstract | The rapid development of industry and technology will increase the energy needs of society, industry, and other supporters.One of the most important energy is electrical energy.According to the Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia no.5 of 2006 concerning the National Energy Policy, contains policies to ensure the availability of domestic energy and reduce dependence on petroleum.The new and renewable energy market is expected to reach 17% of national energy consumption by 2025.This study aims to improve the performance of vortex turbines through experimental approaches. This study evaluates the effect of modifying the blade height from the outlet of the reservoir, the number of blades and the water flow velocity on the performance of the Gravitational Water Vortex Power Plant (GWVP). This study examines the effect of varying the number of blades 5, 7, and 9 blades and varying the height of each number of blades on the performance of the water turbine including flow rate, torque, rotation speed, and turbine power. Tests were conducted at three water flow speeds of 2 m/s, 2.2 m/s, and 2.5 m/s. The results showed that the turbine with 5 blades achieved a turbine power of 49.04 watts. The maximum power was obtained at a load of 3 kg with a torque of 5.89 N.m and an efficiency of 59.69%. Increasing the number of blades increases the efficiency, with a 9-blade turbine at a height of 20 cm achieving a maximum efficiency of 84.84%. A water velocity of 2 m/s gives the best performance in terms of RPM and turbine power, but the efficiency tends to decrease with increasing turbine power. | en_US |
