    Abstract
This study analyzes the reception, interpretation, and role of values conveyed by K-Pop group SEVENTEEN in shaping the identities of adolescent members of the Carat in Medan, through the YouTube channel @Pledis17. The research is grounded in the constructivism paradigm, employing concepts and theories such as new media, symbolic interactionism, identification, fandom, reception, popular culture, and adolescent identity formation. A qualitative approach was used, involving five Carat Medan teenagers as primary informants, two parents as supporting informants, and two psychologists for source triangulation. The findings show that all five informants actively engage with content from the @Pledis 17 YouTube channel- particularly music videos (MVS) and the variety show GOING SEVENTEEN- to follow updates on their idols and interact with the fandom. Four informants perceived SEVENTEEN mainly as a source of entertainment, while acknowledging the positive values absorbed throughout the viewing experience. One informant explicitly described SEVENTEEN as a formative influence during their adolescence. All informants found both entertainment and inspirational values, forming emotional bonds with SEVENTEEN and the Carat Medan fandom. While they appreciated SEVENTEEN, they also demonstrated critical awareness (negotiated reading) of the K-Pop industry and cultural differences. The Korean Wave, SEVENTEEN, and the Carat fandom play a significant role in adolescent identity formation. SEVENTEEN functions as a significant other, inspiring value shifts and life principles, while the Carat Medan fandom serves as a reference group, fostering a sense of belonging and support. These influences contribute to increased motivation, self-confidence, and awareness of positive values.
