Redesign of Production Floor Layout with Ant Colony Optimization and BLOCPLAN Algorithms in CV. Iqbal Kosen
Abstract
CV. Iqbal Kosen is a company engaged in furniture production, such as window frames, bed frames, chairs and so on. The common problem found is the company's inability to complete production targets within a predetermined period of time. These common problems are the result of inefficient production trajectories caused by irregular placement of workstations due to backtracking, and distances between stations. To overcome these problems, the production floor layout was redesigned using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and BLOCPLAN algorithms. The results show that the total displacement distance in the actual layout of 137.8 meters can be reduced to 91.5 meters with the ACO algorithm and
95.3 meters with the BLOCPLAN algorithm. The total displacement moment also decreased from 38,132.30 meters/month to 26,203.00 meters/month with the ACO method and 26,866.30 meters/month with the BLOCPLAN algorithm. The selected layout uses the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) method because it produces the highest line efficiency rate of 83.05% and is able to increase the average production yield by 31.83%.
