This comparative study investigates the differences in book genre preferences based on the Big Five personality traits. The participants consisted of 144 individuals aged 17 to 40 years, residing in Indonesia, who were not employed in the publishing industry and had read at least two books—either in e-book or print format—within the past thirty days. To analyze the variations in book genre preferences across personality types, chi-square analysis was employed. Data were collected using a Likert-scale instrument, the IPIP-BFM-25 developed by Akhtar & Azwar (2018), comprising 25 items. The results yielded a chi-square test value of 62.335 with 55 degrees of freedom and a significance level (p-value) of 0.224. As the significance value exceeds the conventional threshold of 0.05 (p > 0.05), it can be concluded that there is no statistically significant difference in book genre preferences among individuals with different Big Five personality traits.en_US
